AI study companion

Terry

An AI tutor that studies from your actual syllabus, not the open internet.

Overview

Terry is TAKE OVER's own product: an AI study companion for Indian students, live at myterryapp.com. It is built for two very different learners: CBSE/NCERT school students in Classes 10, 11 and 12, and engineering students at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU). Terry gives every student a personal tutor that knows their exact syllabus and adapts to what they're trying to do: learn a concept for the first time, prepare for an exam, practise, or revise the night before.

General-purpose chatbots answer from the whole internet. Terry answers from the textbooks. It uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) over the syllabus material, so explanations, definitions and diagrams stay aligned with what the student is actually examined on. Students choose their class or engineering branch once, and from then on every answer is scoped to their curriculum.

TAKE OVER designed and built Terry end to end: product strategy, the full UI and design system, the AI and retrieval architecture, subscription billing, production deployment, and the ongoing automated monitoring that keeps it reliable. It is a working example of what we deliver for clients: a production-grade AI product, not a prototype.

What we built

  • Syllabus-grounded answers (RAG)

Textbook content is embedded and stored in a vector database (Supabase pgvector). Every answer is retrieved from the student's own curriculum before it is generated, which keeps responses accurate and on-syllabus.

  • Four study modes

    • Learn: deep, step-by-step explanations for understanding a topic from scratch, tuned for detailed technical answers across engineering branches.
    • Exam: answers structured the way examiners expect them, for exam preparation.
    • Practice: questions to work through for active recall.
    • Revision / Quick: short, high-yield summaries for last-minute review.
  • Dual curriculum support

Separate school (CBSE) and engineering college (KTU) modes, with a semicircle class/branch selector that sets the context for everything that follows.

  • AI-redrawn diagrams

Textbook diagrams are regenerated cleanly by the AI, so students get readable visuals alongside the text.

  • Built-in study workspace

A three-zone layout that combines Notes, a Calendar and a study Timer, so planning and focus tools sit next to the tutor.

  • “Nebula Logic” design system

A custom interface built from scratch: a dark canvas, glassmorphic tiles, a dot-grid texture, a lime-yellow accent, and a node-based dashboard connected by flowing SVG Bézier curves, set in Outfit and JetBrains Mono. It is designed to feel like a premium tool students want to open.

  • 3D robot mascot

A friendly 3D robot character that appears across the app and the brand.

  • Subscription billing

Razorpay checkout with webhook signature verification for secure payment confirmation.

  • Automated daily health monitoring

A scheduled AI agent audits the production codebase every day against Terry-specific invariants: Razorpay webhook verification, correct Supabase client usage, and mobile/desktop parity. Issues are caught before students notice them.

  • Fully responsive

The same experience on phone and desktop.

  • Pricing

    • ₹299 / month
    • ₹1,680 for 6 months (₹280 / month)
    • First 15 messages free, no payment needed to try it
